On Wednesday October 26th at 6pm over 60 Western NY Optometrists converged on the office of Fichte, Endl & Elmer Eyecare to see the first ever live surgery for continuing education credit. The event was put together and hosted by Kathleen A. Otto , Coordinator of Marketing & Outreach and the featured Surgeons were Michael J. Endl & Thomas R. Elmer Jr.
Guests enjoyed dinner and cocktails as they watched lectures and live surgical procedures. Featured were live LASIK and live Raindrop procedures. LASIK corrects distance vision and Raindrop corrects near vision. As an added bonus ONE lucky doctor was selected in a random drawing to win a totally free LASIK procedure valued at $4200. The winner was Dr. Robert Von Volen an Optometrist from Jamestown NY. He had actually had LASIK back in 2004 so was left to decide who he re-gift the generous prize to. This event was the first of its kind for the practice.” At the conclusion of the event, the positive feedback was tremendous” stated Kathleen Otto. Thomas Elmer Jr. MD. went on to say ” We are so fortunate to be a part of the very latest and greatest technologies at our practice and we get very excited when we can share them with other area doctors”
This live surgery program was accredited by the New York State Board of Optometry for two Continuing Education credits and will definitely be offered again in coming years
